Design for Additive Manufacturing
- Additive Manufacturing (AM), is widely recognized as 3D printing, transforming how products are designed, developed, produced and serviced. AM provides and enables on-demand production, standard/non-standard dimensions without dedicated equipment or tooling, unlocks disparate digital design tools, breakthrough performance creating an unparalleled flexibility across industries. Though AM technology is rapidly expanding, the adaptation and knowledge remains the greatest barrier to AM’s wider outreach in industries. In correlation to traditional manufacturing, each methodology corresponding to AM’s methods has its own fair shares of ups and downs. For the same, this course will cover AM processes, advantages and limitations of these processes, the methods and approaches for choosing the material properties and type of process for a defined problem. The applications will be discussed based on defence, aerospace and health care tools. Enrolling this course will empower individuals and industry executives to design their own 3D models in a simple and systematic pattern for a suitable application thereby learning the AM implementation across all disparate verticals.
